Temporary filling material «FtorDentin» has been developed by JSC «StomaDent» for use in therapeutic and orthopedic stomatology with the purpose to decrease hyperesthesia in teeth cavities requiring temporary filling to be replaced in 4-7 days by permanent filling material.

The composition used to prepare temporary filling material «FtorDentin» includes active additives, providing fluoride penetration in hard tooth tissues and in the saliva, and providing also the increase of material hydrophobia after solidification, which decreases the probability of micro-organisms clinging to the surface of temporary filling.

The hardening of «FtorDentin» surface takes place in the course of 2-3 hours, the hardening of the whole bulk of temporary filling takes significant time and is over in 24 hours.

The average mass of material used for temporary filling is 0.3 g.

«In vitro» experiment has analyzed «FtorDentin» ability to extract fluorides into model environment; for the latter distilled water GOST 6709-72 has been used.

Materials and methods:

The analysis of fluoride extraction into model environment was carried out with the help of equipment «Micom-2», designed for ionometric definition of fluoride ions concentration in accordance with GOST 4386-89, which includes ionomer-microprocessor «Expert 001» and iono-selective electrode «Elit 221». The device carries out automatic calculation of results in mg/l.

The samples made of temporary filling material «FtorDentin» with the mass of 0.3 g in tablet form have been submerged in reservoirs with distilled water and placed in thermostat with the temperature of +37 ?Ñ. The proportion of temporary filling material and distilled water: 0.3 g of material and 30 ml of water.

The experiment was carried out in static and dynamic regimes. In static regime one studied the accumulation of fluoride in model liquid in 1, 2, 3 and 4 hours after the material was put in distilled water. In dynamic regime one studied the fluoride extraction into model liquid in 1, 2 and 3 days. During dynamic regime analysis the model liquid in reservoir was changed, whereas the sample material was not changed. Fluoride concentration in the model liquid was analyzed.

 

Results.

In the static regime of experiment fluoride concentration in the model liquid with samples was as follows:

In 1 hour – 5.246 mg/l,
In 2 hours – 10.02 mg/l.
In 3 hours - 12.42 mg/l,
In 4 hours – 16.02 mg/l

In the dynamic regime of experiment fluoride concentration in the model liquid with samples was as follows:

In 1 day – 70.27 mg/l,
In 2 days – 17.82 mg/l.
In 3 days – 8.7 mg/l,
In 4 days – 5.43 mg/l

 

Conclusion: Temporary filling material «FtorDentin» is capable of extracting fluoride during solidification and aftermath, which allows to forecast possible decrease of hyperesthesia and the strengthening of tooth tissue structures.
